A VCXO is a voltage controlled crystal oscillator that generally operates at the fundamental frequency of its internal crystal. A VCXO has a voltage variable varactor attached in series with the crystal. By varying the control voltage, the capacitance of the varactor changes, causing the frequency to change. The VCXO crystal is a high-Q quartz device that enables the circuit to achieve low phase jitter performance over a wide operating temperature range. Available packaging includes industry standard DIP and half DIP leaded packages, as well as, surface mount 5x7 and 9x14 mm ceramic packages for our VCXO oscillators.
